Heat distribution at a glance

Below you will find a compact explanation of how baseboard heaters distribute heat: radiant heat, wall tempering and the difference compared with conventional convection heating.

Benefit from the sun

Naturally pleasant heat like sunlight

We know the principle of radiant heat from everyday sunlight, which warms the objects it hits. The same basic principle can be used indoors to create continuously pleasant temperatures with radiant heating.

Here, too, mainly solid and liquid bodies are warmed and then release heat into the room. The room air is not moved to the same extent as with strongly convective heating systems. As a result, the heat can be perceived as calmer and more even.

The infrared radiation used in radiant heat is part of the spectrum of electromagnetic waves. The decisive factor is not a high air temperature alone, but the interaction of warmed surfaces, wall areas and indoor climate.

Radiant heat instead of convection heat

Heat is distributed differently

Conventional radiators mainly heat the room air. Warm air rises, cools down on colder surfaces and then sinks again. This creates continuous air movement in the room.

Energy-com baseboard heaters work differently: they emit heat along the wall surfaces and warm walls, surfaces and the room more evenly. Comfort is not determined by air temperature alone, but also by the temperature of the surrounding surfaces. This is where the principle of radiant heat comes in.

Depending on the version, Energy-com baseboard heaters are operated electrically or integrated into the heating circuit as water-bearing units. In both variants, heat is emitted evenly along the baseboard area.
